Nyx Kids Tableware: A Playful and Customizable Dining Experience

Eating becomes a pleasurable experience for children with Nyx Kids Tableware, a unique collaboration between designer Alexander Petunin and 10-year-old Elijah Robineau. This futuristic tableware collection, developed under the brand YORB DESIGN, combines aesthetics, functionality, and playfulness to create a dining experience like no other.

Elijah Robineau, with his youthful imagination, contributed to the development of Nyx Kids Tableware by describing and sketching the ideal tableware from a child's perspective. The inspiration for the design came from the games found in playgrounds, each offering a unique interaction and experience for children. The result is a range of tableware that engages children with innovation and allows them to interact with the product.

What sets Nyx Kids Tableware apart is its full custom design approach. Users can choose their own pattern, color, and shape, giving the tableware a special sense of belonging. This collaborative design between a talented designer and a child brings a fresh perspective and breaks free from the boundaries set by adults.

In the creation process, Alexander Petunin utilized 21st-century technologies such as CAD modeling, parametric design, and digital fabrication. The tableware is made from melamine, a stable and inert material that is non-toxic and non-emitters of hazardous chemicals. This ensures maximum freedom of expression in relation to the food being prepared and consumed.

The Nyx Kids Tableware collection includes bowls and plates, each designed with elegant wavy forms that improve the eating experience. With dimensions of approximately 26cm x 21cm x 10cm, the tableware is perfectly sized for children.

Throughout the 9-month project, the collaboration between Alexander Petunin and Elijah Robineau presented challenges but also allowed for pushing the boundaries of design. The result is a collection that not only meets the functional needs of children but also sparks their imagination and makes dining a joyous occasion.

Nyx Kids Tableware has received recognition for its innovative design. In 2014, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.
